Vadu-Crisului

The village is situated at the exit of the river Crişul Repede from the gorge. The name of the village, Vad, both in Romanian and Hungarian means the place in the river bed where people could easily cross the river from one bank to the other because of the low bank and shallow water. The village marks the southeastern limit of the Vadu-Crişului Depression, situated between the Pădurea Craiului Mountains and the Plopişului Mountains. This depression was named after our village. This locality is the largest one in the area. It is crossed by E60 (DN1), from Oradea to Cluj-Napoca. The village is situated 50 km from Oradea and 100 km from Cluj-Napoca. It is also crossed by the Oradea – Cluj-Napoca railway.
